I am very sad to read about this news. I think, it’s like a thef which was done sofly by Malaysia over and over again. They claimed Indonesian culture. Eventhough the fact that they are Indonesian culture. I think that this is a serious problem.
How could have it happened? Well, in my opinion It happened because Indonesia was very late to claim all our culture and Indonesia didn’t seem really care with this. Eventhough It has been proved by the documentary movie from Discovery channel and Wikipedia said that they were all from Indonesia. Gorvenment of Indonesia must have done something wrong. Beside that, Malaysia is intelligent enough to use this moment. Most of people in Indonesia (especially teenagers) don’t care about Indonesian culture anymore. They will be proud if they wear, use, or do something which are from the other country (especially America). So, if I were Malaysian, I would take this time to steal and claim any other Indonesian culture because I think this is the best time. Not just once, They took them many times, many cultures which are from Indonesia.
There are a lot of things that Malaysia has claimed. Those are angklung which seems like Malaysian bamboo, a song titled “Rasa Sayange”, Pendet dance which is from Bali, Batik, Wayang Kulit (Javanese puppet), Reog Ponorogo, Kuda Lumping, Rafflesia Arnoldy flower, and Rendang Padang. In the news above it talks about Pendet dance which is Bali welcome dance, was claimed by Malaysia and a lot of people protest about it. In this situation we can’t just blame Malaysia as the subject for this. But we should blame and demand to Indonesia government about this. Indonesia must do something for this. This is a valuable experience because Indonesia wouldn’t realize if this wasn’t gonna happen.
According to my opinion, there are two ways out from this situation. Firstly, I’m not interested to curse our neightbour contry, Malay. We should blame Indonesia. Indonesia has to keep and claim all things, dance, music, musical instrument,etc even the word just like “cape deh” was claimed by Malaysia. This way will be helpful, if Malaysia tries to get anoher one, we can bring it to the court.
Secondly, All things happened because those are reasons behind that. Malaysia must have some reasons why they did it. I think, we don’t need to think about external things. Let’s just think about internal thing in Indonesia, because beside this problem, We have a lot of problems. If we are as Indonesian people care, we have to do something even the thing that we do is a simple thing. If we don’t start to fix it, many other culture will be taken.
For those reasons above, I think that we should start it start from now. Because it is urgent.
